San Diego Airport Wi-Fi Named Least Secure

Wi-Fi networks at San Diego International Airport and Newark Liberty International Airport are among the least secure in the U.S., according to research from cloud security supplier Coronet. Coronet analyzed five months of data from more than 250,000 people traveling through the nation's 45 busiest airports, looking for risks with the networks and vulnerabilities of the devices using the networks.

ARC Enables Alipay for ARC-Accredited Agency Transactions

Airlines Reporting Corporation now can process Alipay transactions made through ARC's 12,262 U.S. retail and corporate travel agency locations, satellite ticket printing offices and online travel agencies. The capability is made possible through UATP's existing partnership with Alipay, first signed in 2013, that enables airline and other travel partners like hotels and car rental companies to accept Alipay when travelers book directly on merchant websites. To date, UATP said it has two airlines that are live with Alipay.

EY Overhauls Hotel Procurement

On a Wednesday evening at the end of May, representatives from hotel companies both large and small waited patiently inside a modest-sized room on the third floor of EY's Manhattan headquarters at 5 Times Square. Some chatted politely across the rows of seats arranged in front of a projector screen. Others milled about, waiting for the presentation to begin. Many had met with EY one-on-one hours or days before to learn how their hotel agreements were faring. But now, they would hear in a broader scope the outcome of a new hotel sourcing format designed more than a year prior by EY global travel, meetings and events leader Karen Hutchings and then refined and executed by the EY hotel team, headed by global supplier leader Tim Nichols.

Group & Business Transient Drive Q2 Results at North American Hotels

Third-quarter bookings at North American hotels are stronger than at this same time last year for both the group and business transient travel segments, according to TravelClick. Group bookings are up 1.3 percent, and business transient is up 4.7 percent. In rate terms, group is a bit weaker; average daily rate is up 0.8 percent, while business transient ADR is up 3.9 percent.

The Project-Based Business Traveler

More money and time are spent on project-based business trips than other business trips, according to a study conducted by the Global Business Travel Association and Rockport Analytics and sponsored by IHG. U.S. Supreme Court Rules in Favor of Amex in Antitrust Case
