Mercure chalks up 50 hotels in the Pacific region

AccorHotels will set a company milestone over the next three years as it surpasses 50 Mercure branded hotels, with new locations earmarked for Canberra, Melbourne, Gold Coast and Auckland. In order, the Mercure Auckland Queen Street will mark the milestone 50th property, opening in 2019 and followed the same year by Mercure Canberra Belconnen. Mercure Southport will follow a year later, capped off by Mercure Melbourne Doncaster in 2021. The previously announced 120-room Mercure Sydney Bankstown is slated to open in 2020 as part of a major redevelopment of the Bankstown RSL.

SB&G confirm latest Canberra project

Melbourne-based property investment firm SB&G Hotel Group has confirmed development plans for a new hotel property on its existing land asset in Canberra. The planned AUD$50 million development will be a midscale offering with up to 250 guest rooms and will be built on the same site as the existing SB&G-owned Crowne Plaza Hotel on Glebe Park.
